About The Position

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – Vascular Services provides high-quality, patient-centered care in the outpatient vascular clinic setting. This role may be filled by a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) and works collaboratively with four (4) vascular physicians and interdisciplinary clinical staff to evaluate and manage patients with vascular conditions across the continuum of care. The APP will focus primarily on clinic-based evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, patient education, follow-up care coordination, and chronic disease management. This position is clinic-focused and is not intended to provide surgical first assist coverage.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Current or eligible North Carolina PA license
  • NCCPA certification (PA-C)
  • Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred)
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program (MSN or DNP)
  • Current or eligible North Carolina NP license and national board certification (AANP or ANCC)
  • Active RN license in North Carolina
  • Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred)
  • Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Strong communication and patient education abilities
  • High level of organization and efficiency
  • Professional judgment, integrity, and teamwork
  • Proficiency with EMR systems

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in vascular, cardiology, internal medicine, hospital medicine, or related specialty
  • Strong chronic disease management skills
  • Familiarity with vascular diagnostics and imaging interpretation
  • Experience working in a high-volume outpatient clinic environment

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations for new and established vascular patients.
  • Evaluate and manage arterial, venous, and lymphatic disorders including: Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) Carotid artery disease Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) surveillance Chronic venous insufficiency and varicose veins Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) follow-up Lymphedema
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans in collaboration with physicians.
  • Provide post-procedure clinical follow-up in the clinic setting (not surgical assisting).
  • Educate patients on disease processes, medications, lifestyle modifications, and treatment expectations.
  • Order, perform (as applicable), and interpret diagnostic testing including labs, vascular imaging, ABI testing, and ultrasound studies per scope and training.
  • Review results, coordinate referrals, and ensure timely follow-up.
  • Collaborate with wound care, cardiology, radiology, primary care, and other specialists as needed.
  • Perform minor office procedures and wound assessments within scope and competency.
  • Remove sutures/staples, manage dressings, and assist with clinic-based follow-up care.
  • Participate in anticoagulation monitoring and patient education when appropriate.
  • Provide responsive patient communication via phone, portal messages, and in-person visits.
  • Maintain thorough, timely documentation in the EMR.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and compliance requirements.
  • Work closely with physicians, nursing staff, and vascular lab personnel to ensure efficient clinic flow and excellent patient experience.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development.
