About The Position

APPs will earn an $8 hourly differential for your flexibility and expertise across multiple locations. The Children’s Mercy Division of Urgent Care provides the highest-level care to sick and injured children and adolescents in the Kansas City region. We have one pediatric express care in addition to three pediatric urgent cares where patients receive skilled care from highly trained and passionate health care professionals. The Float Express Care/Urgent Care position will work approximately six 11- hour shifts (11 am – 10 pm) in a pay period. They will work as part of a team to provide high level care for children, birth-18 years, with a variety of chief medical complaints. They will provide autonomous direct patient management, with the ability to collaborate with urgent care physicians. Responsibilities include completing thorough history and physical assessments, ordering/interpreting lab tests, developing differential diagnosis, implementing plans of care and coordinating the disposition process. The APP will be expected to work effectively with the medical team by communicating clearly with families, working well with physicians and physician trainees, being a resource for nursing staff and collaborating with multiple subspecialties that function at all of our Express and Urgent Cares throughout the Kansas City area. The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse I (APRN-I) provides comprehensive, evidence-based advanced practice nursing to address the physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients and families within the framework of the collaborative practice agreement. The APRN-I participates in beginning leadership, evidenced-based practice/ research, and organizational development activities with the support and direction of an experienced APRN mentor. Requirements

  • Master's Degree Required and 1-2 years experience Pediatric RN experience. Exceptions considered on a case-by-case basis within preferred specialty.
  • Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire
  • Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire
  • RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO
  • APRN board certification congruent with population and practice setting (see policy statement: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Roles and Practice Setting) Required Upon Hire
  • Successful completion of national board certification in one of the following: Required Upon Hire
  • OR Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) MO & KS Required Upon Hire
  • Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire

Nice To Haves

  • DNP preferred and 1-2 years experience Pediatric RN experience. Exceptions considered on a case-by-case basis within preferred specialty.
  • Specialty Certification relevant to unit’s patient population (determined by Nurse Manager/Director) Preferred
