About the role Access TeleCare is seeking an PRN Advanced Practice Sonographer who demonstrates a high level of proficiency in diagnostic medical sonography with a focus on maternal–fetal conditions. This role requires strong technical expertise and advanced interpretive skills. The Sonographer is responsible for performing all ultrasound studies and preparing associated documentation and reports under the supervision of an interpreting physician.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ work experience of years live-scanning in MFM office
  • Proven ability to navigate ultrasound PACs systems for US data and reporting
  • Excellent computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office programs
  • Proven interpersonal communication skills through various channels
  • Excellent organization and time management
  • Ability to work independently, but function as part of a team
  • Detail oriented
  • Flexibility and willingness to take on new tasks with guidance
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s or post graduate degree in management, education, or related field preferred
  • Credentials from ARDMS in OBGYN and Fetal Echocardiography preferred
  • FMF cervical assessment course or complete it within 6 months of hire date
  • Assessment in Obstetrics preferred
  • Certification by the Fetal Medicine Foundation for Nuchal Translucency and Nasal Bone Assessment preferred
  • Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography preferred
  • Certification by the Fetal Medicine Foundation for Nuchal Translucency and Nasal Bone Assessment preferred
  • Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography preferred

Responsibilities

  • Image review, triage, and draft reports: Review ultrasound examinations and associated sonographer feedback from clinical locations
  • In instances where the review is concurrent with the real time examination, employee will provide coaching/feedback to sonographers to ensure the examination is complete and meets essential quality standards for diagnostic purposes
  • Employee may extend the examination as necessary for these purposes
  • Employee’s image reviews normally will occur after the examination has occurred
  • Reviews will include a comprehensive assessment of the images and associated examination/patient data (assessing quality, completeness, accuracy, artifact, etc.)
  • If the clinical site sonographer providers a preliminary report, employee will examine for accuracy and completeness and make corrections as appropriate
  • If no preliminary report is available, employee will create the report for review by the interpreting physician
  • Place reports of normal examinations in queue for the interpreting physician
  • Report examinations with abnormal or concerning results directly to the interpreting physician for expedited review
  • Deliver examination results to the patient or to the referring provider as the interpreting physician instructs
  • Quality Assurance and Education: Responsible for quality assurance (QA) measures with respect to each examination and report that employee reviews but will perform those duties under the supervision of the Clinical Program Coordinator
  • Discuss quality concerns and areas for improvement with the interpreting physician
  • Conduct education for site sonographers as needed based on the quality concerns at each facility
  • Education may include, but not limited to, phone calls, conference calls, or video conferences, at the time of an examination or thereafter; written feedback or instruction to sonographers; referrals to suggested reading, resources, or courses; educational presentations, either remote or on- site; protocol instruction or updates; and site visits
  • Other duties as assigned
