Who we’re looking for Toyota’s Government Affairs Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Advocacy Manager. The primary responsibility of this role is to manage Toyota’s grassroots engagement programs and advocacy events. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Government Affairs, the person in this role will support department's objective to develop effective political and advocacy programs. This position is based at our office in Washington, D.C. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within commutable distance of this location. What you’ll be doing Manage Toyota’s Grassroots Program: Oversee employee, dealer, and supplier engagement in Toyota’s grassroots efforts, fostering an informed, active and aligned community around public policy. Advocacy Content Creation: Manage creation of multimedia content that advances Toyota’s advocacy goals. Draft advocacy materials, including action alerts, talking points, and fact sheets. Dealer Advocacy Support: Provide strategic, technical and operational guidance for grassroots activations and events to Director of Dealer Policy for the Toyota/Lexus Dealer Advocacy Network (TLDAN). Supplier Advocacy Support: Provide strategic, technical and operational guidance for grassroots activations and events to Director of Supplier Policy for the Toyota Supplier Advocacy Network (TSPAN). Oversee Large-Scale Advocacy Events: Manage high-profile advocacy events for Toyota’s Government Affairs team (e.g., annual Washington DC fly-in for nearly 100 senior executives, fly-in for executive women leaders at Toyota, advocacy events for Toyota and Lexus dealers and suppliers, and political events) ensuring smooth execution and alignment with broader strategic goals. What you bring A minimum of 5 years of experience in government affairs, public policy, public affairs, communications, or a closely related field Experience managing grassroots, marketing, or communications initiatives with the ability to foster an informed and active participant base Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships Demonstrated strategic thinking skills, with the ability to anticipate challenges, analyze complex issues, and develop proactive solutions Bachelor’s degree (or higher) Willingness and ability to work outside of normal business hours Willingness and ability to travel up to 15% of the time Added bonus if you have Master’s degree Messaging and communication strategy experience Familiarity with the legislative process Proven ability to plan, coordinate, and execute large-scale events for government affairs, including high-level meetings and public engagements What We’ll Bring During your interview process, our team can fill you in on all the details of our industry-leading benefits and career development opportunities. Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in government affairs, public policy, public affairs, communications, or a closely related field
