Lockheed Martin is looking for a motivated Aerospace Engineering Intern to join the Program Office in Sunnyvale, CA supporting Space Development Agency’s Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture programs. We are seeking a self-starter to support our Infrared Payload (IRPL) Integrated Product Team (IPT). In this role, you will work closely with our Lockheed Martin engineers and key supplier technical team to develop a preliminary design for a technically advanced optical payload. In this role, you will assist the IRPL IPT in the following areas: Track and report on risk mitigation activities Participate in design trade activities Evaluate payload supplier designs Contribute to ICD and requirement maturation This position is available at our Sunnyvale, California location.

Requirements

  • Currently a Junior/Senior standing, pursuing a degree in Aerospace, Optical, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience using collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams, Slack, or Google Workspace.
  • Proactive mindset with a willingness to ask questions and learn new tools quickly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast paced environment.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance - U.S. Citizenship required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with MATLAB
  • Experience with 3D modeling and or structural/dynamic analysis
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle constructive feedback professionally
  • Current or existing Interim or Secret Clearance
