About The Position

The Intelligence and Operations Solution division at Leidos currently has an opening for an Aerospace Stress Engineer to work in our Bridgewater, VA office. In this role, you’ll leverage hands-on engineering to solve real-world aerial intelligence and surveillance challenges. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Structural Engineering with a minimum of 2- 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with FEA and CAD software.
  • Strong knowledge of static/dynamic engineering mechanics.
  • Experience with technical writing and presentations.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with FEMAP and SolidWorks.
  • Damage tolerance, vibration, fatigue, and/or thermal analysis experience.
  • Experience with Army Aviation Engineering Directorate (AED) and NAVAIR requirements.
  • Working knowledge of FAA rules and regulations.
  • Active Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform static, linear structural analysis for airframe modifications.
  • Analyze metal, non-metallic, and composite structures using both Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and hand calculation methodology.
  • Write structural test plans, test reports, and structural analysis reports.
  • Provide technical inputs to mechanical designs during all phases of the design lifecycle.
  • Present analysis assumptions and results to key stakeholders during internal and external design reviews.
  • Review and approve deviation request and non-conformance reports.
