About The Position

Do you have experience safely operating equipment and maintaining plant safety in an aggregate environment? We are hiring an Aggregate Plant Operator for our Nissen Pit. If you have mechanical aptitude, a commitment to safety and are an excellent team player, we want to hear from you! You will be responsible for safely operating equipment and tools to efficiently run our aggregate plant. Your primary focus will be on equipment operation, maintaining plant safety, and supporting maintenance. Collaborating with your team to ensure smooth daily operations, identify safety hazards and maintenance needs, and complete required documentation, you will support continuous improvement and ensure compliance with regulations.

Requirements

  • Ability to safely and confidently use power tools, welders, hand tools, and related equipment
  • Self-motivated with a strong ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and solid math skills
  • Availability to work 12-hour shifts, including weekends
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is considered an asset

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in the aggregate industry and proficiency in welding is considered an asset
  • Prior experience operating heavy machinery in a plant environment is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate the processing plant to transform raw pit material into finished aggregate products
  • Use various equipment—including loaders, haul trucks, skid steers, welders, and hand tools—to complete daily tasks
  • Collaborate with team members to meet daily operational priorities and cross-train in other positions as needed
  • Help maintain a safe, hazard-free work environment through housekeeping and routine maintenance duties
  • Conduct regular plant walk-throughs to identify safety hazards, maintenance needs, and review completed repairs
  • Complete required documentation, highlighting opportunities for plant improvements, and escalate operational issues to the Foreman
  • Follow all safety policies and regulations, including MSHA and company standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned
