We are committed to an inclusive and respectful environment that promotes a healthy work-life balance, and there’s a seat at the table for you.   Become One Of Our Valued Agricultural Team Members: Here at Lakeside Foods, our Agricultural/Field Pest Control team is the backbone of our field operations, Supervising the spraying of all processing crops for weeds and insects.  During the off-season, involvement with updating and keeping current all pesticide/fertilizer records, SDS booklet, Sustainable Ag Program keeps everyone busy.  They also assist in the overhaul and repair of machinery and vehicles used in field operations.

Requirements

  • A minimum of three years experience as a Field Mechanic and two years experience in the Company's pest management program.
  • Should have knowledge of the operation, preventative maintenance, and repair of all field and spraying equipment.
  • Should have specific knowledge of the pests which may affect crops, and should be familiar with the detection and control methods for such pests.

Nice To Haves

  • Complete knowledge of shop tools such as the drill press, welder, and cutting torch are beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day spraying of crops for weeds, insects, and diseases.
  • Inspect fields daily during the growing season to determine weed, insect, and diseases thresholds.
  • Determine how to treat and spray fields.
  • Direct all Company spraying equipment and personnel to various locations.
  • Direct contracted aerial applicator services used for spraying crops.
  • Assist in the repair of all field equipment and company vehicles.
  • Grower contracts, pesticide records, historical data.
  • Supervise the planting of peas and sweet corn as directed by the Ag Manager.
  • Assist in determining maturity of all fields.
  • Assist in the hiring of seasonal employees.
  • Assist in training of new field department employees.
  • Enforce Company safety policies within the field department.
