About The Position

As an AI Integration & Automation Specialist on the Technology Partner Services team, you will execute partner-facing AI integration work and build internal AI automation workflows that improve efficiency, certification quality, and partner time-to-value. This is a hands-on, execution-oriented role. You will work directly with technology partners to review AI-enabled integrations, validate certification readiness, and provide practical guidance to ensure compliance with Avalara standards. Internally, you will design, implement, manage, and maintain AI workflows, agents, and automation processes that streamline intake, documentation, certification review, and partner enablement. You will also help prioritize and execute partner-facing AI initiatives, ensuring alignment with certification requirements, operational capacity, and business impact. In this role, you will work closely with Product and Engineering teams to represent the partner perspective as new AI capabilities are developed. You will provide structured input and practical feedback on emerging AI initiatives, including areas such as MCP servers, AI-enabled APIs, and workflow automation features, ensuring they are integration-ready and aligned with real partner use cases. You will partner closely with Business Development, Product, Engineering, and Partner Management to ensure integrations are accurate, scalable, and operationally sound. You will report to the Director of Technology Partner Services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field.
  • 4–7 years of experience in technical program management, solutions engineering, integration consulting, or automation-focused roles.
  • Hands-on experience building AI workflows, agents, or automation pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of APIs, REST services, JSON payloads, and system integrations.
  • Experience validating or testing partner-built integrations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical integration issues independently.
  • Familiarity with Jira and documentation tools such as Confluence.
  • Experience working directly with external partners in a technical capacity.
  • Ability to translate AI capabilities into practical, production-ready workflows.
  • Strong written documentation skills and ability to create structured, repeatable playbooks.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ERP, eCommerce, or subscription billing systems.
  • Familiarity with tax or compliance-related integrations.
  • Experience building AI-powered internal tools or enablement workflows.
  • Basic scripting or low-code automation experience.

Responsibilities

  • Partner AI Integration Execution
  • Provide technical guidance to partners building AI-enabled integrations.
  • Review partner solution architecture for AI-driven workflows and automation patterns.
  • Validate integrations against certification requirements.
  • Conduct functional and technical testing of partner-built solutions.
  • Identify gaps, risks, and compliance issues prior to certification approval.
  • Support partners in troubleshooting API usage, data flows, and workflow automation logic.
  • Certification & Readiness
  • Review and validate partner certification artifacts including documentation, testing results, and implementation guides.
  • Ensure integrations meet defined entry and exit criteria for certification.
  • Support improvements to the partner certification framework through execution feedback.
  • Participate in Partner Readiness reviews for new APIs, AI features, or workflow changes.
  • Internal AI Automation Execution
  • Design and implement AI workflows to improve internal processes such as intake scoring, documentation generation, recurring question reduction, and certification review.
  • Build and maintain AI agents or automation pipelines using approved tooling.
  • Identify repeatable manual work suitable for AI augmentation.
  • Measure and report on efficiency gains from automation initiatives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work with Product and Engineering to validate API changes affecting AI integrations.
  • Surface recurring partner integration issues and automation gaps.
  • Contribute to documentation that standardizes AI integration patterns.
  • Support stakeholder enablement through clear technical documentation and workflow diagrams.
  • Operational Ownership
  • Manage assigned work through Jira and capacity models.
  • Apply effort sizing and capacity governance standards.
  • Participate in weekly intake and capacity reviews.
  • Ensure AI-related work aligns with defined routing and escalation rules.
