The AI/ML Engineer in Employer & Individual will partner with Underwriting and Actuarial teams to design, develop, and deploy scalable AI/ML solutions that integrate seamlessly into existing business tools. This role bridges advanced machine learning capabilities with real-world operational needs, ensuring models are production-ready, compliant, and aligned with business goals. You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week. You’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering or AI/ML data science
  • Proven experience deploying ML models into production environments
  • Solid proficiency in Python and core AI/ML frameworks and languages
  • Demonstrated experience with MLOps deployment tools and practices
  • Solid understanding of statistics, probability theory, and machine learning algorithms
  • Familiarity with enterprise AI platforms
  • Willing and able to travel 10%25 +/- depending on business need

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in underwriting, actuarial, or finance domains, including risk scoring, pricing models, or claims analytics
  • Proficiency with SQL

Responsibilities

  • Translate proof-of-concept models into robust, production-grade software using modern ML engineering practices
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver AI/ML solutions that enhance decision-making and efficiency
  • Present complex analytical concepts and model outcomes to leadership and cross-functional teams in a clear, actionable manner
  • Apply advanced techniques to solve business problems
  • Build and maintain scalable data pipelines and model deployment frameworks
  • Leverage statistical modeling, optimization, and experimental design to improve model performance and reliability
  • Ensure compliance with internal governance standards and responsible AI practices
