About The Position

Koniag IT Systems LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an AI/RPA Solutions Architect with a TS/SCI security clearance to support KITS and our government customer at Langley Air Force Base, VA. We offer competitive compensation and an extraordinary benefits package including health, dental and vision insurance, 401K with company matching, flexible spending accounts, paid holidays, three weeks paid time off, and more. The AI/RPA Solutions Architect is a critical technical leadership position responsible for designing, prototyping, and transitioning artificial intelligence and robotic process automation solutions that deliver measurable mission value across Air Combat Command. This role requires deep technical expertise in AI/ML technologies, hands-on development capabilities, and the ability to translate complex operational requirements into scalable, secure, and compliant solutions across multiple classification levels. Two specialized positions ensure parallel development pipelines: Position 1 (NIPRNet Architect) focuses on unclassified and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) solutions, enabling rapid prototyping, broader user access, and cross-organizational knowledge sharing. This architect will develop solutions that can be widely deployed, tested, and refined before potential classification upgrades. Position 2 (SIPRNet/AFSCI Architect) focuses on classified solutions operating in Secret (SIPRNet) and Top Secret (AFSCI) environments, addressing intelligence, operational planning, and mission-critical applications requiring higher levels of security and compartmentalization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field
  • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in AI/ML solution design, development, integration, and testing
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in DoD, federal government, or defense contractor environments
  • Demonstrated experience prototyping and deploying AI/ML or RPA solutions that delivered measurable business value
  • Experience working in classified environments (SIPRNet, JWICS, or equivalent) - required for Position 2
  • Experience with multiple classification levels (unclassified, Secret, Top Secret) preferred
  • AI Engineer Certification or equivalent (e.g., AWS Certified Machine Learning, Google Professional ML Engineer, Microsoft Azure AI Engineer, TensorFlow Developer Certificate)
  • RPA Certification: UiPath Certified RPA Associate OR Microsoft Power Automate certification (RPA Developer Associate or equivalent)
  • CompTIA Security+ (or higher DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification such as CISSP, CASP+, GIAC)
  • TS/SCI clearance required - Must be current and in-scope at contract start (no exceptions)
  • Proficiency with Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI platforms (GPT, Claude, LLaMA, or similar)
  • Experience with ML frameworks: TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Keras, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of AI/ML techniques: supervised/unsupervised learning, deep learning, natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, reinforcement learning
  • Experience with prompt engineering and fine-tuning LLMs for domain-specific applications
  • Understanding of AI ethics, bias mitigation, and responsible AI principles
  • Hands-on experience with UiPath (Studio, Orchestrator, Robots) or Microsoft Power Automate (Desktop, Cloud Flows, Process Advisor)
  • Ability to design, develop, and deploy end-to-end RPA workflows
  • Experience with process mining and automation opportunity identification
  • Knowledge of attended vs. unattended automation patterns
  • Proficiency in Python (required) - for AI/ML development, data processing, and scripting
  • Experience with SQL - for database querying and data extraction
  • API development and integration - RESTful APIs, webhooks, authentication (OAuth, API keys)
  • Version control: Git, GitHub, GitLab, or Azure DevOps
  • Data pipeline development - ETL/ELT processes, data transformation, data quality
  • Data visualization - Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent
  • Database technologies - SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or equivalent
  • Cloud platforms: Azure (preferred), AWS, or Google Cloud Platform
  • Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes (preferred)
  • DoD cybersecurity frameworks: RMF, NIST 800-53, DISA STIGs
  • Data classification and handling: CUI, Secret, Top Secret, compartmented information
  • Secure coding practices and vulnerability mitigation
  • Excellent communication skills - Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences (commanders, planners, analysts)
  • User-centered design mindset - Focus on solving user problems, not just applying technology
  • Collaboration and teamwork - Work effectively across functional teams and with government partners
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking - Analyze complex problems, evaluate alternatives, and recommend solutions
  • Adaptability and flexibility - Thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
  • Self-motivated and proactive - Take initiative, identify opportunities, and drive results
  • Attention to detail - Ensure accuracy, quality, and completeness in all work products
