About The Position

Amentum is seeking an Airfield Manager in the Williamsburg area of Virginia. The manager shall provide oversite and management of all airfield operations, oversee planning and scheduling of the work performed for this effort. The manager shall demonstrate and apply highly developed interpersonal, analytical, and communication (written and verbal) skills. Job Requirements: Provide airfield operations management and support as scheduled by the Government for Airfield activities which may include managing runway, tarmac, and hangar usage. Assist Government Airfield Manager with the scheduling of airfield activities and flight inspections and maintenance of Base's airfield, hangars, and aircraft landing zones. Ability to work closely with people at all levels of the government, commercial airports, other support departments. Ability to work flex hours on short notice and willing to adjust on short notice as required for day-night or weekend duty. Assist Government with all scheduling of airfield activities, flight coordination, represent Client on FAA requirements/matters, coordinate runway repairs/maintenance and work closely with Client to support day-to-day operations. Demonstrate ability to be certified as Aviation Certified Weather Observer within six months and ability to document weather observations for FAA reviews to support the Base's Supplementary Aviation Weather Reporting Stations (SAWRS) certifications. Report Heat Index forecasts to all personnel during hot weather months and disseminate information to all personnel in a timely manner. Operate and maintain airfield/aviation equipment in accordance with Base and FAA regulations. Serve as an air traffic advisor for the Base airfield and landing/drop zones. Communicate weather conditions and restricted airspace information with aviators during training exercises. Maintain airfield weather and aeronautical equipment and gauges to include the Data Transmission Network weather satellite system. Take Wet-Bulb Globe readings during hot weather months and disseminate information to Government and Contractor department heads. Coordinate support equipment, material, and personnel as needed. Provide flight crewmembers and passengers a security awareness briefing. Assist Government Airfield Manager with submitting periodic security and airfield reports. Assist with the collection and documentation of daily weather conditions that are submitted to the National Weather Service monthly. Assist with annual inventories of the airfield and government-owned property.

Requirements

  • Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management or (5) years of airfield operations experience.
  • Valid Drivers License
  • US Citizen
  • Must have government issued clearance at time of application
  • Ability to work closely with people at all levels of the government, commercial airports, other support departments.
  • Ability to work flex hours on short notice and willing to adjust on short notice as required for day-night or weekend duty.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and (5) years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of managerial experience.
