About The Position

Full-Time and PRN Positions Available Primary Job Purpose: To provide direct care and services to our neighbors (residents). Customer Service: Adherence to the MOSES program to include Mission, Ownership, Success, Excellence, and Service. Essential Job Functions: Practices the Values, the Mission, and Philosophy of Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center. Assist in implementing care of neighbors per care plan including but not limited to bathing, laundry, housekeeping, meal service, grooming, reminders, and toileting assistance as outlined in care plan. Provides privacy while giving personal care. Perform accurate and complete documentation of neighbor’s information as required by federal and state regulations. Coordinate medical and non-medical appointments and transportation for neighbors. Gives mental, emotional and physical support to neighbors. Always treats neighbors with dignity and respect. Must demonstrate patience, compassion, and respect toward the elderly and disabled. Answers call bells timely. Routinely cleans equipment and keeps work area neat and clean. Exchanges information from the day between shifts. Communication of neighbors’ condition and significant issues with physicians, families, case manager, and Administrator as necessary. Perform basic neighbor assessment using the glucometer, blood pressure equipment, and skills appropriate for the level of care provided. Ability to coordinate activities with neighbors, provide housekeeping, laundry and bathing assistance and cooking. Maintains awareness of changes in neighbors’ conditions and appropriately reports abnormal changes. Assure neighbors’ rights, privacy, and HIPAA regulations are followed. Must maintain confidentiality of all work-related information according to HIPAA regulations. In addition to the responsibilities described above, the role may include other responsibilities and duties as assigned on occasion, based upon Eben Ezer needs or requirements.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or G.E.D preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certification and computer experience preferred.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as within a team and in cooperation with many other departments.
  • Ability to manage time and resources effectively.
  • Ability to enter data accurately, such as physicians’ orders, labs, etc.
  • Must have good writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate well with neighbors, their families, and other staff.
  • Ability to listen well and process information.
  • Must display a positive attitude and flexibility in changing situations.
  • Must exhibit courteous, compassionate, and respectful treatment of neighbors, families, and co-workers.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk 8 hours a day.
  • Sits, stands, bends walks, reaches, lifts, keyboarding, pushing carts and wheelchairs, and moves intermittently during working hours.
  • Must be able to push/pull up to 250 pounds regularly using a wheelchair or cart.
  • Must be able to lift 0-50 pounds regularly by self and 50+ pounds occasionally with assistance.
  • Must be able to work on holidays and weekends.
  • Overtime may be necessary to cover vacations.

  • Ability to think critically, be detail-oriented, work well with peers, handle multiple interruptions, and work on multiple tasks throughout the day.
  • Ability to change with the needs of the current populations of neighbors and provide higher levels of care as needed per care plan.
