About The Position

A machine shop welder plays a crucial role in the manufacturing and fabrication industries. The primary purpose of a Machine Shop Welder is to join metal parts together using various welding techniques, ensuring the structural integrity and quality of the final product. The most successful candidate is a mechanically inclined individual that can weld a variety of parts and work independently as well as on a team.

Requirements

  • MIG/TIG welding for aluminum.
  • Able to drive a forklift when necessary.
  • Ability to read and fabricate products from design or specification documents.
  • Mechanical skills.
  • Math skills for accurate measuring and design of products/solutions
  • Ability to perform tasks under time pressure deadlines.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Internal weld test required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent level of training
  • Minimum 3-5 years of welding experience, with at least 2 years specializing in aluminum using TIG and MIG methods in a manufacturing setting.
  • One or more years of experience in general labor.
  • Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature occasionally.
  • Must be able to bend at waist and knees and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to climb into and out of the interior of boats.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds when necessary.
  • Be able to drive a forklift when necessary.
  • Be able to read and understand blueprints.
  • Keep work area clean and orderly.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position.

Nice To Haves

  • AWS (American Welding Society) certification preferred.
  • Tube and Tank welding experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of metalworking machinery (Acetylene Torch, Metal Shear, Roller, Press Brake, etc.) a plus.
