About The Position

The position involves performing tasks related to food service, clean up, and documenting resident food acceptance. The employee may assist with orientation and on-the-job training of new employees as directed by the supervisor and will complete other duties as assigned by the Director. The role is essential in assuring quality dietary requirements for the facility, and the list of duties may be modified at any time.

Requirements

• Genuine interest in geriatrics and serving food for residents with high standards of quality.
• Ability to follow instructions and organize time to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
• Ability to adapt to frequent changes in routine.
• Previous food service experience, preferably in a health care setting.
• High school graduate or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Handle and serve resident's food safely and comfortably according to recognized standards and sanitary regulations.
• Clean and sterilize instruments, equipment, dishes, and utensils according to established policy and procedure.
• Prepare, deliver, and pick up resident food trays while maintaining established meal schedules and sanitary regulations.
• Perform departmental cleaning and stocking of supplies as needed or directed by the Director.
• Provide assistance in all dietary functions during emergencies or as required.
• Avoid food waste when possible.
• Label food and check product shelf life to prevent foodborne illness.
• Report observations concerning structural and equipment wear, defects, and malfunctions to the supervisor.
• Handle food in accordance with sanitary regulations.
• Meet Federal and State sanitation, food storage, and food quality requirements.
• Keep the working area clean, orderly, safe, and in good working order.
• Perform other duties as required by the Director.
