To learn more about CIBC, please visit CIBC.com What You’ll Be Doing: Seeking Geologist Investment Banking Analyst/Associate to support the Houston EIT (Energy, Infrastructure, and Transition) team. As an Analyst/Associate, you will play a critical role in the geology-specific aspects of the asset assessment and valuation workflow – building stratigraphic frameworks, landing zone analysis, core-calibrated petrophysics, and subsurface property mapping. You will work on generating client presentation materials, populating VDRs, and partnering closely with senior bankers, clients, and counterparties. How You’ll Succeed: Perform deep-dive technical evaluations on conventional, unconventional and EOR plays across North America. Develop deep technical understanding of oil and gas assets via building stratigraphic frameworks, landing zone analysis, core-calibrated petrophysics, and subsurface property mapping. Collaborate with reservoir engineers to identify key drivers for well performance. Quantify drilling inventory and any associated subsurface risks that could impact operations and well productivity. Play a critical role in A&D, M&A, marketing, and pitch processes alongside senior bankers. Support technical analysis and valuation of oil and gas assets. Prepare client presentations and serve as a contact for senior bankers and clients. Who You Are: 2-6+ years of experience in a related geology role at an operator and/or investment banking (A&D advisory). Master’s in Geology preferred, but nor required. Experience with industry software (e.g., Petra and ArcGIS). Proficiency in subsurface characterization of conventional and unconventional plays. Support by CIBC to obtain your FINRA licenses after onboarding, if not already licensed. Effective team player able to work with diverse internal and external stakeholders. High attention to detail; able to manage multiple tasks. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Excellent presentation, communication, and client-facing abilities Values matter to you.
