About The Position

The Anesthesia Technician assists in the OR suites and off-floor sites in administering patient care as directed by the Anesthesiologist. The anesthesia technician sets up, moves, prepares and maintains all anesthesia machines, equipment and supplies for the Anesthesiologist. The Anesthesia Technician assists in the OR suites and off-floor sites in administering patient care as directed by the Anesthesiologist. The anesthesia technician sets up, moves, prepares and maintains all anesthesia machines, equipment and supplies for the Anesthesiologist. The Anesthesia Technician assists the Anesthesiologists with invasive and non-invasive monitoring. The Anesthesia Technician participates in the orientation, training and education of new personnel and maintains a safe and aseptic environment for all patients. This position performs all related duties as assigned and directed while adhering to the standards of nursing care and the policy and procedures of the Department of Anesthesiology. The Anesthesia Technician reports certified Anesthesia Technician Supervisor and the Chief CRNA.

Requirements

  • One of the following is required: Two years anesthesia support experience or Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B) Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • EMT-B; CMA; CCMA; or CNA required within 24 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • One (1) year experience in health care.
  • High School diploma or equivalent; and Successful completion and certification/licensure in one of the following: EMT-Basic Program Medical Assistant program State recognized CNA program
  • Follows the anesthesia providers’ orders, standards and guidelines.
  • This position requires a highly motivated, self-directed and conscientious individual capable of functioning in a stressful and fast paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • This position requires excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Job duties may include the handling, transportation, access to and/or contract with medication and related supplies.
  • Physical Lifting 20-50 lbs.
  • Activities: Prolonged standing, Frequent bending, Walking (distance), Climbing (steps, ladder, other), Reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive), Repetitive motion
  • Mental/Sensory: Strong recall, Reasoning, Problem solving, Hearing, Speak clearly, Write legibly, Reading, Logical thinking
  • Emotional: Fast pace environment, Able to handle multiple priorities, Frequent and intense customer interactions, Noisy environment, Able to adapt to frequent change

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year clinical experience in one of the following areas: Recovery, ICU, Emergency Room, Operating Room, or Medical/Surgical Unit
  • Associate's Degree or course work in biological sciences
