About The Position

The Opportunity: Utilize diverse knowledge base for many needs within an animal care facility with an emphasis on cleaning and maintenance. Responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing animal treatment and holding areas and observing animals for sickness or abnormalities. Stocking supplies; collecting, processing and distributing laundry; collection and disposal of trash and biohazardous waste. Minor equipment repair and other miscellaneous tasks as needed. Train, lead and assist with work of hourly employees. Work schedule 5am – 1:30pm, Monday-Friday. (Some Holiday and weekend shifts may occasionally be required). Additional Information: This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible. Monthly Salary: $3,417 to $4,542 | Range 38 (Steps A-M) | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28. In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Requirements

  • Two years of experience as an Animal Technician 2; OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Must pass WSU radiation safety training exam first time it is available.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with and caring for canine, feline, birds, and exotics.
  • Experience in general maintenance and repair.
  • Experience handling waste and performing custodial duties.
  • Experience stocking inventory and completing laundry.
