Special Requirements DHS Public Trust preferred US Citizenship Required to Obtain Public Trust Bachelor’s degree + 4 or more years of experience The Gist… We’re looking for an exceptional API Platform Engineer who enjoys solving hard integration problems and building reliable data systems in secure cloud environments. You will design and build high-performance APIs and data ingestion pipelines that power mission-critical applications supporting national security operations. These systems must operate reliably at scale, integrate with numerous external data sources, and run within AWS GovCloud environments. This role is ideal for engineers who: Enjoy designing clean, well-structured APIs Think deeply about data flows, reliability, and performance Take pride in building elegant solutions to complex problems Like working with modern cloud infrastructure and distributed systems You’ll work alongside business analysts, engineers, data specialists, and mission stakeholders (including 3 rd party counterparts) to build systems that enable secure, real-time access to critical data.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field
• 4+ years of experience building production software systems
• Strong experience designing and developing REST APIs or microservices
• Experience working in AWS cloud environments and building cloud-native services
• Experience working with AWS S3 and cloud-based storage architectures
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases
• Proficiency in Python or similar backend programming languages
• Experience designing data ingestion pipelines or integration systems
• Experience with event streaming or data routing tools such as Kafka, NiFi, Confluent, or similar platforms
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, reliability, and performance tradeoffs
• Experience troubleshooting complex systems in production environments
• Ability to design systems with security, scalability, and maintainability in mind
• US Citizenship Required to Obtain Public Trust

Nice To Haves

• Experience working within AWS GovCloud or other regulated environments is highly valued
• DHS Public Trust preferred

Responsibilities

• Designing and implementing well-architected REST APIs that power mission applications
• Building resilient data ingestion pipelines that move data across distributed systems
• Developing cloud-native integrations using AWS services such as S3, Lambda, API Gateway, and event-driven architectures
• Designing and optimizing PostgreSQL schemas and queries for high-performance workloads
• Solving complex data integration challenges across multiple systems and formats
• Building reliable ingestion pipelines capable of processing large volumes of operational data
• Improving system reliability, observability, and performance across APIs and ingestion services
• Collaborating with engineers and architects to evolve system architecture and platform capabilities
• Troubleshooting production issues and continuously improving system stability and efficiency
• Writing clear, maintainable code and well-documented APIs used across the platform
• Helping drive engineering best practices across the team
