About The Position

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Oncology Fellow is a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant participating in a structured postgraduate fellowship designed to support the transition into a specialty oncology practice. Through supervised clinical rotations, mentorship, and oncology-focused education, the fellow develops competency in the evaluation, treatment, and longitudinal management of patients with cancer across inpatient and outpatient settings, including solid tumors, hematologic malignancies, and treatment-related complications.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
  • Completion of graduate-level clinical training for licensure as an Advanced Practice Provider.

  • Prior oncology experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care including comprehensive assessments, formulations of differential diagnoses, and development of evidence-based treatment plans for patients with cancer under the supervision of licensed oncology providers.
  • Participate in clinical rotations across medical oncology, hematologic oncology, infusion services, inpatient oncology, radiation oncology, palliative care, and supportive care services.
  • Assist in the management of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeting therapies, including monitoring and management of treatment-related toxicities.
  • Support patients and families through complex cancer care pathways including symptom management, survivorship, and end-of-life care when appropriate.
  • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams including oncologists, pharmacists, nurses, and support services to deliver coordinated, high-quality patient care.
  • Participate in oncology-specific didactic sessions, tumor boards, journal clubs, simulation labs, and specialty workshops.
  • Engage in ongoing mentorship and performance evaluation throughout the fellowship.
  • Demonstrate progressive development of oncology knowledge, clinical judgment, and professional practice competencies.
