About The Position

The Appliance Mechanic is responsible for installing, servicing and repairing commercial food service equipment such as stoves, refrigerators, dishwashing machines and other electrical household or commercial appliances, using hand tools, test equipment and following wiring diagrams and manufacturer’s specifications. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Two year's appliance mechanic experience required or accredited schooling.
Valid Drivers license and forklift license.
Ability to read and interpret manufacturer's wiring diagrams and specifications.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair both electrical and mechanical commercial food service equipment; dishwashers, fryers, ovens, slicers, waste pulping systems, mixers, etc.
General knowledge on refrigerating equipment, such as, icemakers, chill boxes, etc.
General knowledge on steam operating equipment, such as dishwashers and kettles.
Basic skills in identifying repair parts from manufacturer's technical manual.
Ability to effectively and professionally communicate in writing and verbal form with staff.
Ability to work and communicate with co-workers and customers.
Ability to obtain a NSGL Fork lift license or Scissor lift license if required.
Must be a self-starter.
Ability to move throughout all facilities under this contract's responsibilities.
Ability to observe the functionality of the physical assets of the facilities.
Ability to reach and lift over 50 lbs., push & pull carts/pallets weighing 200 lbs.
Must have good dexterity to operate equipment and handle tools.
Ability to work in extreme conditions utilizing protective equipment if required.
Ability to see and read input data effectively in order to repair equipment following detailed specifications.
Ability to climb stairs and ladders.

Responsibilities

Performs preventive & corrective maintenance in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations and if required disassembles and reassembles appliance equipment, examines mechanical and electrical parts, adjusts pulleys and lubricates all moving parts. 40%
Conducts daily safety inspections of all assigned facilities and troubleshoot problems and make recommendations on facility upgrades. 20%
Observes equipment during operating cycle to detect excess vibration, overheating, fluid leaks and loose parts and takes readings on equipment using a variety of power testing equipment. 20%
Inspects timers, thermostats, switches, pumps, bearings, belts, gears, blowers, defective wiring, adjusts appliance motors and calibrate equipment as needed. 20%
Provides support with user training and familiarization on new and existing equipment
Replaces worn or defective parts, such as switches, pumps, bearings, transmissions, belts, gears, blowers and defective wiring.
Other Duties as assigned
