The Physical Security Systems Application Administrator is responsible for the stability, configuration, documentation, and lifecycle management of enterprise physical security applications and supporting infrastructure. This role administers and optimizes systems supporting electronic access control (Feenics), video surveillance (Hanwha), perimeter intrusion detection (Senstar), badge and reader technology (Wavelynx), biometrics (SAFR), and badging software integrations (ID Producer). The Application Administrator leads application governance (standards, runbooks, upgrades, licensing), coordinates third ‑ party integrations, and provides second-level technical support to ensure high availability of critical security operations.

Requirements

  • Some College or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in physical security systems administration, access control administration, application support, or IT support in a customer-focused environment.
  • Working knowledge of Windows operating systems, client/server applications, and basic networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN concepts).
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new application interfaces and troubleshoot across software, hardware, and network dependencies.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and incident/problem management skills.

  • Understanding of how alarms/events flow from field devices through servers/applications to operators and monitoring processes.

  • Ability to interpret logs/events and translate findings into actionable remediation steps.
  • Comfortable working with vendors and service technicians: reproducing issues, collecting evidence (logs/screenshots/config exports), and validating fixes.
  • Networking / Systems Fundamentals: Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking and common dependencies (DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewall rules, ports/services).
  • Experience supporting Windows-based environments, including permissions, services, drivers, and basic client/server connectivity checks.
  • Data Quality and Access Integrity: Strong attention to detail managing cardholder/user records, access groups, device inventories, and audit trails.
  • Understanding of least privilege and the importance of accurate access provisioning/deprovisioning.
  • Documentation and Process Discipline: Ability to create and maintain runbooks, SOPs, device naming standards, commissioning checklists, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Experience building and improving request/intake workflows using SharePoint and/or SmartSheet (forms, approvals, tracking, metrics).
  • Professional Skills: Customer service mindset with calm, clear communication during incidents.
  • Strong prioritization and time management in an operational environment.
  • High integrity and discretion when handling sensitive security information.

Responsibilities

  • Application administration, performance, and governance: Administer and maintain physical security applications and related services (Feenics, Hanwha VMS components, Senstar management platforms, Wavelynx tooling, SAFR administration, ID Producer dependencies as applicable).
  • Review application/system logs and performance indicators; identify trends and implement corrective actions to improve stability and uptime.
  • Maintain software licensing and entitlement records; coordinate renewals and ensure license compliance.
  • Documentation and standards: Develop and maintain operational documentation, including runbooks, administrator manuals, and configuration/programming standards.
  • Establish and maintain repeatable procedures for routine tasks (user/device changes, audits, backups where applicable, upgrade validation, troubleshooting steps).
  • Integrations and project coordination: Lead and coordinate integrations with third-party applications and data sources, including: API-based integrations (where supported by system vendors) Custom interfaces and data connections (SQL/ODBC as applicable) Data integrators/automation tools (e.g., Alteryx or equivalent)
  • Coordinate requirements, testing, cutovers, and change documentation with internal stakeholders, vendors, and IT partners.
  • Upgrades and lifecycle management: Plan and coordinate firmware/software upgrades across applications and field devices in partnership with vendors and service teams.
  • Validate upgrades in accordance with change management practices (test plans, rollback plans, documentation updates).
  • Data integrity and audits: Coordinate and perform database audits/cleanups for cardholder records, access permissions, device inventories, and system operator accounts.
  • Identify and remediate data quality issues that affect reporting, alarm routing, and operational reliability.
  • Second-level support and escalation: Provide second-level support to service technicians and operations for escalated issues involving: Field hardware and device communications OS/application/client software problems Network-related connectivity issues in coordination with local IT teams (LAN/WAN/Extranet)
  • Support evaluation and testing of emerging technology from supported manufacturers; document results and recommendations.
  • Service enablement: Develop and maintain standardized end-user request processes (SmartSheet and/or SharePoint) for access requests, operator/admin changes, and service intake.
  • Cross-coverage and on-call: Provide backup coverage for Program and Database Integration duties when needed to maintain continuity.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation as required to support critical security system operations (if applicable in your environment).
