About The Position

The Application Developer II will support ancillary lines of business Dental,
Vision, EOB IT, CDH and Pharmacy, ensuring reliable execution of production
processes and day-to-day operational stability. Responsibilities include
monitoring and supporting batch and real-time workflows, triaging and resolving
defects, and implementing enhancements to core business logic in alignment with
evolving business needs and compliance
requirements. The role will participate
in initiatives such as claims processing, membership reporting and
reconciliation, and benefit updates, emphasizing accuracy, timeliness, data
quality, and SLA adherence. This position will also contribute to strategic
initiatives across Dental, Vision, and CDH products. As part of ongoing
modernization, the analyst will help transition business functionality to
distributed platforms and services (e.g., APIs, microservices, data pipelines),
including analyzing existing logic and mapping it to target architectures. The
Application Developer II will collaborate closely with business partners, IT
teams, and vendors to ensure system stability, support ongoing enhancements, and
enable successful delivery of enterprise initiatives.

Requirements

• Proficiency in SQL and JAVA, including JAVA batch processing and JAVA IDE’s (IntelliJ IDEA)
• Experience supporting production applications and jobs in distributed environments, including incident management, root-cause analysis, and performance tuning
• Ability to test packages on the mainframe, promote packages using change management (COBOL/JCL)
• Proficiency in Microsoft suite (excel, word, PowerPoint)
• Experience with system development and project lifecycle processes
• Experience working with cross-functional teams, vendors, and business stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to translate technical concepts into business-friendly language.
• Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
• Three (3) years of advanced programming techniques and application design required.
• Experience in systems design and have a solid understanding of development, database development, testing, and integration methodologies required.

Nice To Haves

• Front-end development experience using Angular and TypeScript
• Version Control experience using GitHub
• Familiarity with Agentic AI frameworks
• Project management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with clients, business analysts and team members on small to large, complex projects to understand the business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions that align with business and IT strategies and are in compliance with the organization’s architectural standards.
• Provide support in the full systems life cycle for multiple applications to ensure application software is delivered on time and within budget.
• Code applications using a disciplined development process.
• Integrate solutions with other applications and platforms outside the framework.
• Create data extracts and reports from system based on requirements.
• Develop, execute, and document unit test plans.
• Support and/or execute all testing efforts across the life cycle.
• Assist in the deployment of new modules, upgrades and fixes to the production environment. Make modules production-ready by moving them to libraries, completing forms and version control documents, following procedures, etc.
• Validate deployment.
• Assist in production support.
• Troubleshoot existing information systems to identify errors or deficiencies and develops solutions.
• Provide ongoing maintenance of applications.
• Evaluate existing applications and platforms and provides recommendations for improving application performance by conducting gap analysis, identifying feasible alternative solutions, and assisting in the scope of modifications.
• Document functions and changes to new or modified modules and test activities/results.
• Assist in the development of user guides and training documentation for systems.
• Participate in project planning processes, as needed.
• Identify better sources of data feeds and interfaces with architects to ensure their feasibility with corporate data warehouse, when needed. Identify technical requirements, as needed.
• Create technical design specifications and assist in sizing technical requirements, as needed. Adhere to standards and procedures; check for compliance.
• Review modules for quality assurance.
• Evaluate new application packages and tools and perform research on best practices and provide recommendations for solutions, as needed.
• Prepare and present formal training to IT staff, as needed.
• Provide technical coaching and mentoring to less-experienced team members.
