About The Position

The Catherine Cutler Institute at the University of Southern Maine is accepting applications for an Application Developer. The Catherine Cutler Institute at the University of Southern Maine is a multidisciplinary applied research and policy institute dedicated to advancing sustainable, evidence-informed solutions to complex social, health, and community challenges. The Institute works collaboratively with government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and community partners to translate knowledge and best practices into meaningful outcomes. With expertise spanning areas such as children and families, disability and aging, justice and public health policy, economic and workforce development, and environmental resilience, the Institute provides research, training, technical assistance, program design, and evaluation services that strengthen systems and improve quality of life locally, regionally, and nationally. The Application Developer designs, develops, and maintains applications and related systems ensuring compliance with design criteria, security protocols, programming standards, compatibility issues, disaster recovery plans, and documentation requirements established by the University and/or contract partners. The Application Developer works closely with project staff to convert databases and technical reports into user-friendly templates for non-technical staff. S/he provides easy access to reports, analyses, and other products designed to meet the needs of staff working in various programs. In addition, the position provides support to project teams working with large and small data sets including but not limited to healthcare data and healthcare provider quality measure reporting. This is a grant funded position with a starting annual salary of up to $65,000 located on our Portland/Augusta Campus.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree and five years of relevant professional experience; or a bachelor’s degree and at least seven years of relevant professional experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with web and application programming, relational database design, and database architecture.
  • Experience with database management.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Reporting Services, and SQL Server Integration Services.

Responsibilities
