About The Position

Healthfirst’s 2026 Summer Trailblazer Internship is a 10-week paid program beginning on June 1, 2026. This is an immersive and interactive learning experience that lays a foundation for continued leadership development. Interns do impactful work, collaborating with other interns, employees, and business leaders to solve current business problems and deliver solutions. Interns must be within a commutable distance from our New York offices at 100 Church Street, and are expected on site Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays For nearly 30 years, Healthfirst has been serving New Yorkers. We helped pioneer the value-based healthcare model—where hospitals and physicians are paid based on patient outcomes—because our company was founded on the belief that insurers need to be true partners in the health system.

Requirements

  • Passion for solving challenging problems using technology
  • Possess technical curiosity and the desire to learn new things quickly
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and maintain attention to detail
  • Ability to work in teams and build good working relationships
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and follow- up skills
  • Experience with object-oriented programming and ability to learn new programming languages
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills required
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Familiarity with JavaScript, SQL React and Python Interest or experience with AI and API integration
  • Undergraduate students must be senior at an accredited institution or have graduated within 12 months of the program. Graduate students must be enrolled at an accredited institution or have graduated within 12 months of the program.
  • Will not require sponsorship for employment
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Operate with intellectual curiosity and critically assess existing processes and procedures to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Hold oneself accountable for the accuracy, completeness, quality, and relevance of deliverables in order to own responsibility for work product
  • Exhibit collaborative attitude, willingness to work with others on features that included working team(s) made of cross departmental/interdisciplinary users
  • Additional duties as assigned
