About The Position

The Application Development Manager supports IT Services and the university community by leading a team that conducts development, testing, and implementation of custom applications, integrations, and automations. The Application Development Manager will provide guidance and support for developers, helping to establish a team culture of strategic innovation. This position will help establish expectations, standards, and processes for the software development lifecycle as well as for the maintenance, troubleshooting and upgrading of existing applications. This position will initiate and lead collaboration efforts with other teams in IT Services and across campus to develop best practices and code review processes, ensure that campus developers have access to the infrastructure resources they require, and promote professional development and research into the latest trends in programming. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • At least five years of work experience in the field of programming
  • At least five years of experience working in a project and team-oriented environment
  • At least five years of experience working in higher education
  • Experience with cloud development and data tools, specifically Azure and Fabric
  • Ability and interest in providing mentorship and leadership to foster a consensus-driven and supportive work environment
  • Demonstrated success working in and supporting a team-oriented approach to providing services, troubleshooting issues, and planning strategically
  • Demonstrated ability and interest in planning and providing high-quality service delivery and implementing new technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and articulate IT solutions to peers, leadership, and others in the campus community
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with a high degree of energy, initiative, and organizational ability
  • Strong character value of teamwork, service orientation, establishing and maintaining relationships, competitive when it comes to problem solving, and calm in the face of pressure situations

  • Able to work in a hybrid environment using both on-prem and cloud systems
