About The Position

The Application Support & Solutions Associate Director leads a support team responsible for several general and global functions that fall outside of the core finance and HCM functional teams. The support team has several important responsibilities including: General and global Workday administration and configuration Workday security Administration of key support systems that service the broader Workday and Enterprise Solutions team (WEST) such as ITSM, dev/ops and automated testing As a team providing core functions for WEST and Workday customers, effective communication and consistent, understandable processes are core to the team's mission. The Associate Director will stay closely connected and up to date with Workday changes, updates and improvements and advises business leaders on new technology solutions becoming available to meet their strategic needs. They will contribute to the UW enterprise applications product road map, facilitate key decisions regarding the system configuration and operation, advocate for the product internally, and represent the team in meetings with peers and leaders across the university and broader, product user community. They will lead continuous improvement efforts for their assigned areas through prioritization of backlogged items to ensure the team is delivering the most valuable solutions (e.g. working on the right things at the right time). They will seek opportunities to eliminate gaps and implement solutions that add value to the business through alignment of product and business strategy, facilitate the constant grooming of the product backlog, ensuring resources are focused on the initiatives that will create and add the most value, facilitate the uptake of new system functionality in order to stay current and take full advantage of UW's software investments. The Application Support & Solutions Associate Director will lead a team responsible for updating and implementing new system configuration. In this role, they will provide supervise of professionals to design, configure, test and deploy solutions both within and across ERP technologies to meet the ever-changing needs of the business. They will provide cross-workstream direction in alignment with institutional goals and key operational milestones. They will manage and support the team’s performance to achieve deliverables as scheduled through the effective allocation and development of talent and skills. They will act as a coach and mentor the team.

Stakeholders may have diverging interests and must understand how the organization operates and how to effectively work within that environment.
  • Management – Must have demonstrated experience effectively managing people and resources, successfully achieving outcomes and providing high quality customer service.
  • Organizational context – Familiarity with the complex needs and challenges of a multi-university system that includes a flagship research university.

Responsibilities

  • Intentionally collaborates with peers across WEST to form a cohesive and well-functioning leadership team

  • Directs strategic information technology planning initiatives and establishes objectives for the institution to ensure appropriate use of financial, administrative, staffing resources in alignment with the strategic plan

  • Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees

  • Serves as a liaison representing the interests of the institution to internal and external stakeholders
  • Advises institutional or divisional leadership on information technology operations and business models
