About The Position

The Technical Applications Support Expert is a highly specialized, pre-sales technical role responsible for supporting customers, consultants, and system integrators in the deployment of Harman audio solutions. This position partners closely with the independent sales organization and internal cross-functional teams to provide expert guidance, ensure proper system integration, and serve as a trusted technical resource for complex audio projects. The role requires deep specialization in Harman DSP platforms, audio networking technologies, and professional audio systems, while skills in video and control systems are also highly desirable. The Technical Applications Support Expert supports projects across a wide range of verticals—including Performance, Sporting Venues, House of Worship, Themed Entertainment, and Corporate markets—offering technical advice, solution validation, and troubleshooting guidance to help customers achieve optimal results. The person in this role will be part of a team effort to achieve annual revenue objectives consistent with HARMAN’s market position as the largest pro audio manufacturer in the world.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in the professional audio industry, including audio system design with an integrator, professional audio manufacturer, or consulting or MEP design firm
  • DSP hardware/software audio design experience required.
  • Proven experience with networking, with a focus on networked audio protocols such as Dante and AES67.
  • Technical knowledge of audio, video and control system theory and application.
  • Teaching and/or client presentation experience.
  • Knowledge of competitive products.
  • Ability to read and understand construction documents, drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Self-motivation with the ability to be productive from a home-office environment.
  • Be willing to travel up to 30%, within North America
  • Be willing to work in a Harman office or Home Office
  • Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment
  • This position requires the use of a HARMAN or customer-owned vehicle. As such, any offer of employment will be contingent upon having a clean driving record, which will be evaluated and determined in HARMAN’s sole discretion, no more than four (4) active points for moving violations (issued by any motor vehicle agency), and no references to operating a vehicle under the influence of controlled substances within the last 10 years.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree or other relevant education preferred.
  • Experience with project and sales tracking software (CRM) a plus.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint software understanding preferred.
  • Experience using Audio Architect or other DSP platforms, is highly desired.
  • Experience with control systems and/or control system programming. (AMX, Crestron, Q-sys, etc)
  • Python / JavaScript / Groovy / Node-RED programming experience highly desired.
  • Experience with Networked AV (AVoIP) hardware / software solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Harman teams to review technical designs and system bid proposals for technical accuracy and make recommendations as needed.
  • Work closely with Harman sales channels, to support Harman system designs.
  • Formulate and review preliminary recommendations, equipment packages, and pricing.
  • Collaborate with product management, sales, marketing, and other internal teams on future products, usage, demo systems, and other product-related initiatives.
  • Support consultants, engineers, integrators, and high-level end-users with audio system designs. Including DSP applications, networking topologies and equipment recommendations.
  • Present educational content to system designers.
  • Coordinate with team members and clients across several time zones.
  • Help the Sales teams track opportunities via CRM.
  • Coordinate and track projects with other Harman teams.
  • Support our integrators with on-site system commissioning and tuning, as needed.
  • Attend and support Harman during special marketing events like industry tradeshows and client engagements.
