About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated Data Scientist with a strong foundation in computer science, computational science, data science, and machine learning, combined with expertise in chemistry, chemical engineering or material science. In this role, you will support our digital transformation initiatives in scientific research and new product development. The position is pivotal in bridging the gap between data science and domain expertise in chemistry, chemical engineering, polymers, and materials science This position is part of a strategic pilot program aimed at embedding digital and AI-driven capabilities into R&D workflows. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Chemical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
  • Strong programming proficiency in languages such as Python, R, MATLAB, and SQL.
  • Experience with machine learning and AI frameworks, including scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Keras.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret complex datasets, including image and experimental data.
  • Familiarity with scientific research environments and terminology.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or Materials Science.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams involving scientists and technologists
  • Prior experience in developing predictive models for scientific applications
  • Basic experience with Data Visualization and Analytics Tools such as Matplotlib, Seaborn, or Plotly.
  • Understanding of ODE/PDE-based system modeling and parameter optimization for performance improvement in chemical or material science applications.
  • Proficiency with statistical analysis software, including Minitab and JMP.
  • Familiarity with scientific instruments such as microscopy (SEM, TEM, optical), spectroscopy (FTIR, Raman, UV-Vis, fluorescence), and rheological measurement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement algorithms to address complex data analysis challenges in scientific domains.
  • Perform quantitative analysis of experimental and image-based data to uncover patterns and generate actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with scientists to automate and optimize R&D workflows, including image analysis for application testing, and to expand predictive modeling capabilities (e.g., biodegradation) using existing datasets.
  • Serve as a liaison between IT, data science, and scientific teams to ensure alignment with research objectives.
  • Contribute to patent applications and scientific publications through data-driven innovation.
