About The Position

This position is located in Jackson, Tennessee. Position The Division of Property Assessments provides assistance, expertise, and oversight to the state’s property assessors and ensures effective administration of Tennessee’s property tax. The division also assists in reappraisal programs, provides technological services, and administers the Tax Relief Program. Analysts work with management, staff, other state entities and local governments to provide support in the coordination and operation of division activities. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the competency, knowledge, skill, and/or ability required with or without reasonable accommodation. To qualify for consideration, an applicant should have graduated from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree or higher. Two (2) years of relevant experience is preferred. A successful employee in this role should have the ability to develop strong relationships with local government officials, coworkers and other stakeholders and maintain credibility. Applicants should be detail-oriented, have strong organizational skills and be comfortable with working with a variety of personalities and organizational levels. Candidates should be able to perform well in a modern office environment. In-state travel may be required for this role and a valid driver's license is required. Other combinations of education and experience, if evaluated as equivalent, may qualify an applicant for consideration.

Responsibilities

  • Review assessment records for accuracy in mapping, sales verification, and data quality.
  • Provide training and support in the appraisal of real and personal property for ad valorem tax assessment purposes.
  • Assist assessors of property in the equitable and uniform completion of reappraisal programs, ratio studies and current value updates.
  • Perform annual audits to ensure compliance with state law.
  • Maintain strong working relationships through excellent customer service and open communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
