The E&I Apprenticeship Program develops entry-level or semi-skilled workers into proficient, multi-skilled journeymen through structured on-the-job training combined with technical and theoretical instruction. Apprentices support the safe, reliable, and cost-effective production of electric energy while developing the skills of the E&I craft. Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) technicians install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical power systems, control systems, and instrumentation used to monitor and operate industrial equipment and processes in a power plant environment. Work includes motors, switchgear, control circuits, sensors, transmitters, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and distributed control systems (DCS). E&I technicians ensure equipment operates safely and reliably through testing, calibration, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance. Previous education or experience in process control instrumentation installation, calibration, and repair, and/or electrical construction and repair, is preferred. Experience in power plant or industrial plant operations and maintenance is also beneficial. During the apprenticeship, candidates will develop skills in electrical systems, instrumentation calibration, process control systems, troubleshooting, and industrial maintenance practices used in power generation facilities.
