About The Position

An APRN in a CDU provides advanced clinical care to patients who require observation (typically 6–24 hours) for further testing, monitoring, or treatment after an Emergency Department visit.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in nursing or Physican Assistant license
  • Minimum of two years APP experience in an acute care setting, -OR- recently licensed APP with 5 years' experience in an acute care setting as an RN.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in Arkansas; APP/CPN License.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification or must successfully obtain certification within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Must be able to operate all typical nursing equipment essential to performing the job (i.e., scales, procedure equipment, needles, blood pressure equipment, and EKG machines).
  • Must have normal communication sensory requirement.
  • Ability to comply with CDC Universal Precautions when indicated.

  • Perform minor procedures
  • Participate in policy development
  • Mentor nurses
  • Perform comprehensive health histories
  • Identify acute and chronic health conditions
  • Assess risk factors and overall patient status
  • Perform other duties as needed
