About The Position

The Aquatics Coordinator works directly with the Wellness Coordinator to help facilitate the aquatic wellness program to ensure that on-going programming is designed to promote the philosophy of health and wellness, known as WellLife at Blakeford. The Aquatics Coordinator would oversee the functions of pool in the Wellness Center including, but not limited to, pool programming, HydroWorx treadmill programming, and maintenance. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or other related field from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Experience or training working with older adults
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required
  • Certified Pool Operator training (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience leading group and/or aquatic exercise

Responsibilities

  • Manages/oversees/coordinates efforts with our pool maintenance contract to ensure maintenance tasks are completed
  • Ensures water quality, maintenance of equipment, and pool facilities are in compliance with health department standards
  • Maintain chemical schedule for the pool, including keeping appropriate supplies on hand and learning the entire pool system (pump, heat, and sanitizing systems)
  • Perform/schedule routine maintenance and cleaning of pool and pool area in accordance with specified schedule
  • Maintain accurate records and required by the state codes
  • Help implement and enforce pool policies and procedures
  • Assist in designing and take lead in teaching aquatic classes and other programming
  • Schedule residents on the HydroWorx treadmills
  • Work to promote the aquatics program opportunities with the residents
  • Help the rest of the Wellness team "on land" when necessary
  • Assist with various educational tasks
  • Work alongside the therapy department to facilitate resident care
  • Create interpersonal and professional relationships with residents and LiveWell members
