About The Position

The Architectural Associate is an entry-level professional role that supports the design and documentation of architectural projects by applying foundational to intermediate architectural principles. Working under the supervision of senior architectural staff, this position assists in drafting, design development, and the preparation of permit and construction packages, contributing to high-quality project deliverables. This role is ideal for individuals pursuing architectural licensure and enrolled in the Architectural Experience Program (AXP), providing opportunities for professional growth and practical experience across multiple project phases.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor of Architecture (5-year program) or Master of Architecture (6-year program) from a NAAB-accredited institution is required.
  • Experience: No previous relevant work experience is required. Prior internships in the A/E industry is preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Enrollment in the Architectural Experience Program (AXP), with a commitment to pursuing architectural licensure.

  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Sketch-Up, Photoshop, and other related software programs
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet project deadlines effectively.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a project team

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the preparation and review of design computations, drawings, and plans under the guidance of senior architects.
  • Reviews submittals and supports project coordination efforts to ensure documentation accuracy and timely submissions.
  • Drafts specifications, technical reports, and correspondence while maintaining organized and up-to-date project records.
  • Conducts field inspections to verify that design intent and code compliance are achieved in built work.
  • Researches, interprets, and applies building codes, zoning ordinances, and permitting requirements to support project compliance.
  • Applies knowledge of applicable design standards and construction practices to produce accurate and coordinated project documentation.
  • Supports and participates in Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes to enhance deliverable quality and reduce design errors or omissions.
  • Performs assigned tasks within established project budgets and schedules, contributing to efficient and successful project delivery.
