About The Position

The customers you will work with are some of the most exciting startups in the world; spanning every imaginable use case. They include those with an industry focus such as Health Care/Life Sciences, Fintech, Climatetech, those for whom machine-learning / Generative AI is at the core of their products, and those building software for delivery to other businesses. This role is a leader of leader position, managing a team of Solution Architects, driving goals and influencing the direction of our technical teams. This role is aligned to our field sales organization and will focus on supporting startups and high-growth digital native businesses. Ideal candidates must have deep experience in working with early-to-late stage startups, understanding their unique challenges and fast-paced requirements. This role blends strategic leadership and building deep technical solutions. As a leader of solutions architects, you will develop and grow customer-obsessed technical professionals who partner with customers to advise, mentor, and assist in architecting, deploying and operating mission-critical workloads on AWS. You will develop and lead programs that enable your team to deliver the right guidance, technical content and solutions to support startup customers, including core infrastructure services, GenAI, application services, data and analytics, and DevOps/automation. Members of this team also work with key startup influencer and investor groups, such as VC funds, and incubators or accelerators. You’ll engage with a host of other AWS leaders as you work with your team members to build plans that define how we will help early stage startup customers. These plans will encompass both one-to-one engagements with specific customers as well as broadening your team’s impact via one-to-few or one-to-many engagements involving multiple customers. You’ll also work with other AWS teams such as marketing and training to define how your team will contribute to scaled activities such as technical content creation or public speaking. Many of our innovations and product improvements are driven by customer feedback: you’ll also develop and use mechanisms that ensure the insights your team gains from their engagements with customers are delivered to relevant service engineering teams so that we can keep improving our products and make sure they continue to be relevant to early stage startups.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of management of technical, enterprise customer facing resources or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience architecting/operating solutions built on any cloud service provider like Azure, AWS, GCP, OCI, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience architecting, migrating, transforming or modernizing customer requirements to the cloud
  • Experience delivering technology products or services in a high growth environment
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms and cloud computing such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, etc.
  • 9+ years of managing a technical team of solution architects, sales engineers or similar technical roles experience

Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of the startup ecosystem, their technology needs, and their cloud journey
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to build programs that support startup customer onboarding and prescriptive cloud architecture guidance
  • Hire, onboard, train, and develop a high-performing team of Solutions Architects with expertise in the startup segment
  • Lead your team to educate startup customers on how to leverage AWS services and participate in architecture design sessions to ensure solutions are optimized for the cloud
  • Conduct technical training and workshops for startups who are evaluating or using AWS
  • Guide the development of whitepapers, presentations, and other high-value customer-facing content to share best practices
  • Foster a culture of innovation, customer-centricity and continuous learning within your team
  • Act directly as a technical executive sponsor for our most critical accounts
  • Champion your area’s customer needs with senior leaders (Director, VP) inside AWS
