OSI Optoelectronics is seeking an Assembler to join their team. This individual will wire, solder and assemble microscopic components to make subassemblies or assemblies for laser systems and fiber optic products. They will also test the final product to see if it meets specification in accordance with the customer specification sheet, established procedures and/or specific instructions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 1+ years of related experience in a manufacturing/production environment required.
  • Must be able to assemble and inspect fiber optic components using microscopes.
  • Excellent hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity are needed.
  • Must be able to work with, and properly handle, lab chemicals such as epoxy, acetone, methanol, and propanol as per Company procedures.
  • Must be available and flexible to work a split shift or extended work schedule.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in the business language (English).

Responsibilities

  • Wire Bonding of all manufactured parts, such as ball and wedge bonds, pull tests of wire bonds, and nondestructive and destructive.
  • Laser die mounting using various solder types.
  • Transistor Outline (TO) level hermetic sealing (capping) in dry box.
  • Fill out production travelers in real time, listing all relevant information, i.e.: lots, dates, operator.
  • Follow established procedures, verify all equipment is calibrated and ESD tables are up to date.
  • Perform all visual inspections related to the product being manufactured.
  • Assist in training of lower-level assemblers in proper procedures and techniques.

  • It is the responsibility of every employee to report to their manager or a member of senior management any quality problems or defects in order for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence of the problem.
