If you are a person with a relentless drive to succeed, a strong focus on quality with a passion for success – join us today!  UCT is looking for a talented Assembly Lead to join us in Austin!   The Assembly Technician Lead builds and tests electromechanical components and subassemblies for gas delivery systems, ensuring quality and precision in a cleanroom environment. This role provides day-to-day leadership and direction to assembly personnel, supports production planning and schedule attainment, and promotes a safe, organized workspace. The Lead drives consistent execution of standard work using visual controls and Lean manufacturing practices, troubleshoots issues, and contributes to continuous improvement to improve throughput, quality, and delivery performance.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated leadership and team coordination capabilities.
  • Skilled in conducting hands-on training and mentoring.
  • Strong manual dexterity and proficiency with hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Familiarity with GD&T principles and cable routing, harness configuration, soldering, wiring, and crimping standards.
  • Proficient in advanced assembly techniques and troubleshooting of electromechanical systems.
  • Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for internal and external interactions.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new products and procedures.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and travel occasionally as needed.
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience
  • Some technician coursework and/or AA technical degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of related experience working in a cleanroom environment with previous leadership experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in helium leak testing, module and sub-assembly testing, and inspection preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and test electromechanical systems and subassemblies according to engineering specifications.
  • Provide guidance and work direction to cleanroom assembly personnel.
  • Develop and manage work schedules in coordination with the Manufacturing Manager.
  • Participate in production meetings and communicate relevant updates to the assembly team.
  • Conduct on-the-job training and support skill development for team members.
  • Operate hand and power tools to complete assembly tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Apply 5S and visual control principles to maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Support quality assurance efforts and perform general inspection and troubleshooting.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support production goals.
