Job Description: Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Stewardship and Donor Engagement, the Assistant/Associate Director of Stewardship and Donor Engagement will contribute to the strategic management of the University’s relationship with many of its top donors. The work of the Assistant/Associate Director will help to ensure a cohesive, collaborative approach to these relationships with donors. Primary to this role is ensuring that the donor remains apprised of the positive impact that their gift has at Boston College and increasing the possibility of subsequent, significant gifts. The Assistant/Associate Director will be responsible for a portfolio of annual impact reports. This position will be responsible for project management; timeline and deadline management; editing, proofing and design of content; survey and template layout; coordinating with outside vendors; and data management. The Assistant/Associate Director will oversee outreach to recipients and University contacts assigned to funds associated with the assigned portfolio. Additionally, they will participate in donor engagement events and activities. The Assistant/Associate Director, along with the Senior Associate Director, will also be responsible for coordinating with School Development partners on Stewardship and Donor Engagement initiatives within assigned schools and programs. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. The salary range for this position is listed below with the final salary based on various factors, including the candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and internal equity considerations. Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and full-time equivalent hiring ranges: - Assistant Director: $59,400 - $74,250; 1-3 years experience - Assistant Director: $65,550 - $81,950; 3-5 years related professional experience - Associate Director: $72,450 - $90,550; 5+ years related professional experience

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1-3 years professional experience for the first Assistant Director Level
  • 3-5 years professional experience for the next Assistant Director Level
  • 5-7 years professional experience for the Associate Director level
  • Experience working in a complex fundraising operation, preferably within a higher education setting in a capital campaign environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of core fundraising programs and strategies including knowledge of the process and practices for receiving major gifts, in general, knowledge of cultivation and stewardship vehicles, including some knowledge of donor fund accounting, and possess the ability to build and sustain stewarding information and services to help advance the fundraising work of the organization.
  • Working knowledge of project management processes, web-based platforms/communications, including survey creation, email merges, etc.
  • Understanding of the University’s mission and the role it plays in advancing donor relations.
  • Self-motivated, resourceful and strategic.
  • Highly engaged in working collaboratively with a team.
  • Anticipates opportunities and possesses a high level of follow through on projects.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and oral communication, and technical skills are essential.
  • Exhibit discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential donor and student information.
  • Exudes a professional demeanor when dealing with colleagues, donors and students.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite and Google platform, and an understanding of Adobe Suite and InDesign software.
  • Must be a team player who is highly motivated and dedicated to the goals of advancing higher education and have an appreciation for Jesuit Catholic education and the goals and values of Boston College.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with project management and the implementation of elements of complex projects is desired.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and Blackbaud or other fundraising databases is preferred.
  • A desire to build a career in advancement is a plus.
