About The Position

The Seidel School of Education invites applicants to apply for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Physical Education in the Department of Secondary and Physical Education. This is a 10-month, full-time tenure track position beginning in August 2026. The successful applicant will teach 12 credits per semester (3-4 courses) in topics such as: Elementary Physical Education Methods, Management and Instructional Strategies in Physical Education, Assessment and Technology in Physical Education, Methods of Health Education, and Foundations of Physical Education. In addition, the new faculty member will coordinate practicum experiences for teacher candidates, supervise students’ full-time student teaching internship, support teacher candidates with required licensure assessments (i.e. Praxis II and edTPA), advise students in the PE professional teaching program, and participate in program accreditation processes. The ideal candidate will be committed to the preparation of future physical education teachers through engaging instruction, active mentorship, university and community service, and scholarly contributions related to physical activity, pedagogy, health, and wellness in schools. Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in physical education (or related academic area)
  • Three years (minimum) pk-12 teaching experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching Elementary Physical Education and/or Elementary PE Methods.
  • Experience teaching Health Education or Health Education Methods.
  • Experience with edTPA or other performance/licensure assessments.
  • Clinical supervision and/or practicum coordination experience.
  • Evidence of or potential for effective college teaching and scholarly productivity.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
  • Culturally responsive or trauma-informed physical education practices.
