About The Position

FEI is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support land development engineering projects through detailed design production, coordination with project managers, and assistance with agency permitting and approvals. This role is intended for a civil engineer with hands-on land development experience who is building toward full project management responsibilities. It is best suited for candidates who have already worked on real-world projects in a consulting environment and are ready to take on increased technical and coordination responsibility. This position works closely with licensed Project Managers and is not an entry-level graduate role .

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • 2+ years of practical land development engineering experience in a consulting environment
  • Experience working under licensed Professional Engineers on active projects
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment

Nice To Haves

  • North Carolina Engineer Intern (EI) registration or active progress toward licensure
  • Experience with Ajera or similar project/financial management software
  • Exposure to permitting and agency coordination

Responsibilities

  • Assist with project quality, efficiency, and design in conformance with standards of practice and company policy
  • Prepare land development plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D, including:
  • Subdivisions and roadway design
  • Water, sewer, and storm sewer systems
  • Grading, erosion control, and stormwater management plans
  • Final plats and construction documents
  • Apply surveying data to engineering design with a working knowledge of land surveying
  • Take direction from Project Managers to produce plans in a timely and accurate manner
  • Assist with maintaining project schedules and timely completion of deliverables
  • Prepare reports, specifications, studies, permits, and project documentation
  • Coordinate plan submittals and permits with outside agencies
  • Promote teamwork, communication, and efficient utilization of resources
  • Support positive relationships with clients and regulatory agencies
