About The Position

Friends University is seeking to fill the Assistant Coach Track & Field position in Wichita Kansas. The Full-Time Assistant Coach Track & Field will report to the Director of Track and will assist with supervision and management of the Friends University Cross Country and Track program. This includes development, execution and assessment of plans for: budget management, personnel management, recruitment, retention, student-athlete development, and day-to-day operations of the program. Operations include communication regarding facility needs, planning and facilitating practices and game day strategies, and collaboration with the Director of Track, Admissions, Financial Aid, FAR, and athletic administration. Requirements

  • Six months of similar or related experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills are necessary.
  • The ability to motivate and influence others is material to this position.
  • Requires diplomacy, ability to garner trust of others and maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to lead in an inclusive and developmental manner.
  • The position requires strong time management and personnel management skills.
  • The individual must possess acute understanding of sport preparation and facilitation.
  • Must be able to multi-task and be a part of a fast-paced demanding environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information, strong time management and leadership development skills.
  • The work requires minor physical exertion such as short periods of standing, walking over rough, uneven surfaces, some recurring bending, crouching, stretching, reaching, or similar activities.
  • Job may require lifting of lightweight objects with infrequent bending or stooping alternating with the lighter activities.
  • Job requires minimal agility and dexterity.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 35 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Two to four years of coaching experience preferred
  • College coaching and recruitment experience preferred.
  • Master’s preferred.
