Assistant Construction Manager, Site Operations
About The Position
We are looking for a strong, field based leader to support daily operations on a large, active construction site. This is a boots on the ground role for someone who understands jobsite flow and is ready to grow into ownership of specific sections of the project over time. This is not an office position. You will be in the field daily, walking the site, coordinating crews, identifying issues early, and helping keep work moving safely and efficiently. For the right person who shows consistency, awareness, and follow through, there is a clear path to expanded responsibility running defined areas of the site.
Requirements
- 5+ years of construction experience required
- Strong carpentry or field background preferred
- Experience leading small crews or managing portions of a jobsite
- Comfortable taking ownership of assigned areas
- Ability to read basic plans and understand layout
- Strong awareness of safety and jobsite flow
- Reliable, steady, and solution oriented
- Physically able to stay active throughout the shift
Nice To Haves
- Commercial or industrial construction experience
- Experience supporting a Superintendent or Site Manager
- Experience coordinating multiple trades in active areas
- Familiar with lifts, telehandlers, or material equipment
- Experience on large-scale or fast paced projects
Responsibilities
- Maintain active visibility across assigned work areas
- Support daily planning and field coordination
- Stage work areas so crews can stay productive
- Monitor subcontractor flow within assigned zones
- Identify and correct site issues early
- Support safety, PPE compliance, and site standards
- Assist with material flow and proper placement
- Communicate field conditions clearly to Site Managers
- Document progress, issues, and recurring friction points
- Step in hands on when needed to keep work moving
