About The Position

The Assistant Construction Manager (ACM) supports the Construction Manager in delivering safe, high-quality projects on time and within budget. This role is field-focused and responsible for supporting daily construction activities, supervising field operations, minimizing risk, and ensuring work is completed in the best interests of QPS, our clients, and project teams. The ACM assists with planning, execution, controls, and closeout while helping maintain balance between scope, schedule, budget, and quality.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive field experience in the power delivery industry
  • Includes hands-on construction, supervision, and construction management of union power generation projects
  • Experience with combined cycle power plant construction
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • Graduate of a Building Trades Apprenticeship Program
  • Experience with SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Primavera P6, and project management software
  • Estimating experience
  • Strong relationship-building and team leadership skills
  • Self-motivated with excellent organizational abilities
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Solid understanding of construction means and methods
  • Knowledge of EPC and Design-Build project delivery
  • Ability to work effectively with design and construction teams
  • Strong written, verbal, and electronic communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Office and cloud-based systems

Responsibilities

  • Support and coordinate daily field construction activities
  • Assist with administration of subcontracts, purchase orders, and project documentation
  • Monitor construction progress to ensure alignment with scope, budget, schedule, and quality objectives
  • Help manage subcontractor performance and material, equipment, and vendor coordination
  • Prepare, review, and route RFIs and submittals for constructability and compliance
  • Support budget tracking, schedule updates, and quality management efforts
  • Assist with implementation and enforcement of QA/QC standards
  • Support Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) compliance and subcontractor safety initiatives
  • Help prepare and update project schedules, pay applications, status reports, and progress documentation
  • Assist with project setup, temporary facilities, and site logistics
  • Support crane operations, heavy lifts, and heavy haul activities
  • Maintain field document control and accurate daily records
  • Prepare daily reports, take progress photos, and document field activities
  • Understand baseline schedules and milestone dates and help communicate schedule requirements
  • Support development and weekly updates of short-interval (3–4 week look-ahead) schedules
  • Assist with tracking and reporting Physical Percent Complete (PPC)
  • Comply with company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned
