Assistant Costume Shop Supervisor
About The Position
Barrington Stage Company, an award-winning professional theatre company located in the heart of the Berkshires, is seeking an Assistant Costume Shop Supervisor to join our team in Pittsfield, MA. The Assistant Costume Shop Supervisor provides administrative and organizational support to the Supervisor, focusing on research, stock coordination, and maintaining production documentation.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of costume construction, history, and shop equipment.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Reliable transportation and/or a valid driver’s license are required.
- Must be comfortable working with students and volunteers.
- Ability to lift at least 30 lbs.
Responsibilities
- Research costume availability from regional theaters and rental houses.
- Assist designers in pulling costumes from stock for fittings and rehearsals.
- Maintain the "costume bible" including photos, fabric swatches, and dye formulas.
- Manage returns of unused garments to vendors and restock borrowed/rented items.
- Assist in the construction of costumes and accessories as needed to meet deadlines.
- Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the shop and storage areas.
- Other duties as assigned.
