About The Position

The Assistant Director of Graduate Programs will be responsible for managing the graduate admissions process for all College of Business Graduate Programs. The main functions of the role will be recruitment activities (may include travel), rendering admissions decisions and supporting student success. Incumbent must possess outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Experience successfully working independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving. Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher).
  • Three [3] years of full-time related administrative experience in a college or university setting (Student work experience may be considered).
  • Experience conducting training or delivering presentations.
  • Proficient, professional experience in word processing, spreadsheet management, electronic messaging and internet applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Apps, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in business, higher education, or a related field.
  • Admissions experience in Higher Ed.
  • Academic advising or student services experience in Higher Ed.
  • Experience with a Higher Ed online application management system such as Slate.
  • Experience with outreach activities, in-person and online in an educational setting.
  • Experience with event planning.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the College of Business graduate admission process.
  • Process and review Graduate CoB applications.
  • Maintain application information for data tracking.
  • Communicate admissions decisions in a timely manner and work to complete applicant files to improve yield.
  • Work effectively with the Graduate School and Visa and Immigration Services to admit students and obtain student visas.
  • Responsible for on-campus, off-campus and virtual recruitment. This includes information sessions, open houses, and admissions presentations.
  • Administrative setup of new and continuing programs - internal & external procedures, including Slate.
  • Serve as the CoB liaison with the Graduate School.
  • Facilitate graduate registration processes and ensure accurate handling of program-related forms (e.g., change of program, leave of absence, readmissions, time limit waivers, retroactive add/drop, withdrawals).
  • Maintain and manage graduate student records and databases, including enrollment trends, graduation and retention rates, etc.
  • Analyze enrollment and registration data using tools such as Tableau and SBU Reporting; provide actionable recommendations to improve student yield and retention.
  • With the team, execute key program events, including MBA/MS orientations and commencement activities; develop communications for student engagement, recruitment, and retention across digital platforms (social media, website, Brightspace, email).
  • Compile and report statistical data for accreditation, rankings and university administration.
  • Serve as the secondary academic advisor for graduate students across all programs (MBA, MS in Finance, MS in Accounting Analytics, MS in Business Analytics and Intelligence), during peak enrollment and registration periods.
  • Participate in the University and College of Business Commencement programs and other programs related to the betterment of student life in the graduate programs.
  • Working with the team execute MBA/MS orientations in the Spring and Fall.
  • Working with the Graduate and CoB MARCOMM teams develop communications to assist with student engagement, recruitment, and retention for a range of platforms, social media, website, CoB Brightspace organization, email, etc.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
