About The Position

Rockhurst University seeks a dynamic pastoral administrator to serve as Assistant Director of Campus Ministry. The Assistant Director of Campus Ministry helps to realize Rockhurst’s commitment to accompanying all student from various spiritual and faith traditions on their unique journey towards their faith so they be their most authentic selves. Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Religious Studies, Theology, or field closely related to position responsibilities.
  • At least two years of Campus Ministry or work in a related area required
  • Active in their respective faith tradition.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, oral communication skills
  • Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Ability to adapt to unexpected needs and circumstances
  • Willingness and ability to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends
  • In order to qualify as a candidate, you must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • At this it Rockhurst is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa.

Responsibilities

  • Providing faith and spiritual opportunities specifically for non-Catholic students that include but are not limited to worship, prayer services, retreats, advising SEEK (student interfaith council), plan interfaith panel discussion and other spiritual initiatives related to the various religions represented in the Rockhurst student body.
  • Serve as a resource to assist non-Catholic students find local faith communities for worship opportunities related to their respective faith traditions.
  • Direct the Campus Ministry component of the Kateri Living/Learning Communities that involves providing pastoral support to the students and providing programs and initiatives related to Ignatian Spirituality and eco-justice. Responsibilities in this area include but are not limited to: conducting weekly community reflection, prayer, and discussion opportunities; advising students in their activities related to Ignatian Spirituality and eco-justice; and deepening students’ knowledge and understanding of these topics. This also includes collaborating with Residence Life staff in selection of students and ensuring smooth delivery of collaborative programming and services.
  • Coordinate & Plan, with the Director of Campus Ministry, campus wide retreats such as Frosh-Get-A-Way and Retreat on the Rock.
  • Provide pastoral support and spiritual accompaniment to students.
  • Regularly attend spiritual services, student masses, ABC nights, and other regular Campus Ministry Events.
  • Supervise work study students in the Campus Ministry Office.
