About The Position

Under the direction of the Behavioral Health Director, the Assistant Director of Crisis Services oversees the day-to-day operations of crisis clinical services. The primary responsibility is to optimize the crisis service delivery system by developing an accountable system of service excellence and innovation while consistently promoting LifePath Systems’ mission and values. This position ensures ease of access by delivering person-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally and linguistically appropriate services. The Assistant Director promotes effective collaboration between clinical and administrative functions within the Behavioral Health Division, bringing leadership experience as a successful team builder with a history of achieving measurable quality outcomes, customer satisfaction, regulatory compliance, and financial stability. As a key leader in community collaboration, this position provides public presentations and maintains positive working relationships with hospitals, jails, and other community agencies. The Assistant Director directly manages the service delivery and contractual performance of the Mobile Crisis Outreach Team (MCOT), MCOT Jail, Mental Health Deputy Co-Responder Program, Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors (LOSS), Youth Crisis Outreach Team (YCOT), Behavioral Health Continuity of Care, Crisis Hotline, and the Extended Observation and Crisis Respite Units. Notably, this role will oversee the supervision of the Law Enforcement Liaison and seeks stakeholder feedback to ensure community crisis response needs are met. This position also works closely with the Utilization Management team to ensure appropriate assessment, authorization, and utilization of private psychiatric bed (PPB) funding. The Assistant Director is responsible for all contract deliverables, budget development, and oversight for respective programs, ensuring all operations remain in accordance with regulatory requirements. Success in this role is defined by meeting specific performance metrics, including maintaining departmental productivity targets, ensuring 95% of state-mandated documentation is completed within required timeframes, and sustaining 100% audit readiness for CCBHC certification. The Assistant Director ensures that any incidents of penalties, findings, or recoupment of funds due to performance failures are addressed through clear and effective Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) and accountability processes. Additional programs and workforce may be assigned to this role to enhance overall service excellence. Essential duties include the supervision of a diverse workforce across various professional levels. This role requires flexibility in working conditions, as the Assistant Director may participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to support crisis emergencies and must be able to travel locally to jails, hospitals, and community partner sites. The position involves both administrative office work and field-based oversight, requiring the ability to navigate various community environments. Administrative responsibilities include managing staffing plans and PTO to ensure sufficient coverage, conducting personnel actions (hiring, evaluations, and corrective actions), and documenting regular team meetings and monthly individual supervision within required time frames.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field, required.
  • Full Texas licensure in good standing as LPC, LCSW, LMFT that qualifies for state LPHA credential.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ supervisory experience in a community mental health center (preferably a CCBHC) required.
  • Minimum 3 years working in behavioral health crisis assessment and response.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in development and oversight of budgets, design of processes and systems for delivering community-based services, and coordination with a large management structure and stakeholder groups, preferred.
  • Experience in certification process for Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) model of care highly desired.
