About The Position

Strategic finance leader and key partner to the Director of Finance, providing oversight of financial planning, analysis, and decision support across the organization. The Assistant Director of Finance plays a critical role in driving divisional financial performance, strengthening operational insights, and ensuring financial discipline while developing finance capabilities and influencing division and senior leaders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive finance or accounting experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment
  • Demonstrated experience supporting senior leadership with financial strategy, planning, and analysis and operational improvements
  • Working knowledge of JD Edwards Enterprise One strongly preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling; strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Eighteen (18) years of age or older
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen, physical and background check
  • Dependability
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle
  • Willingness to travel occasionally by air and land
  • Proven leadership, coaching, and influence skills
  • Exceptional business acumen with a strong understanding of manufacturing operations and cost structures
  • Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly to non-financial leaders

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a strategic partner to the Director of Finance, contributing to the division’s financial strategy, long-range planning, and capital allocation decisions
  • Leads the development of the division’s annual profit plan, machine hour rates, forecasts, and multi-year financial models
  • Proactively provides historical analysis to support forward-looking insights that identify performance drivers, risks, and opportunities impacting financial and operational results
  • Exercises independent judgment in recommending financial strategies, capital allocation investments, and corrective actions
  • Oversees tracking, analysis, and interpretation of actual results versus profit plan, forecasts, and prior periods
  • Prepares and reviews divisional financial analysis and executive-level reporting for ownership, advisors, senior leaders, and other stakeholders
  • Leads ROI, IRR, payback, and other investment analyses to support capital expenditures, pricing decisions, and growth initiatives
  • Ensures accuracy, consistency, and clarity of financial data used for decision making
  • Acts as a primary finance liaison to divisional manufacturing, sales, and operations, translating financial results into actionable business insights
  • Partners with the division’s operational leaders to improve cost management, productivity, pricing, and profitability
  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives by providing financial analysis and measurement of results
  • Oversees industry benchmarking and external reporting as may be required
  • Provides leadership, mentoring, and development for finance team members as assigned
  • May directly supervise financial analysts or other finance staff, including goal setting, coaching, performance feedback, and development planning
  • Builds strong internal relationships and reinforces a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning within the finance function
  • Ensures compliance with company policies, internal controls, and financial best practices
  • Models and reinforces SCT’s core values, ethical standards, and company culture in all decisions and interactions
  • Effectively cascades and communicates financial and company information to leaders and team members at all organizational levels
  • Represents the company professionally with internal and external stakeholders
  • Commits to community involvement and supports company initiatives beyond the finance function
  • Leads or supports special financial projects as assigned by the Director of Finance
  • Documents processes, analyses, and key assumptions as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned
