We're looking for an Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) who can both implement policy and processes around personnel and clearances, and partner with our business leaders in support of our National Security and Department of Defense (DoD) missions. This is a hybrid position near Ashburn, Virginia requiring 2-3 days/week on site. The AFSO supports the Facility Security Officer (FSO) in administering the company’s personnel security program in compliance with the National Industrial Security Program (NISP) as codified in 32 CFR Part 117. This position is primarily responsible for processing, tracking, and managing DoD security clearances (Secret, Top Secret) and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility, ensuring timely onboarding of cleared personnel and strict adherence to DoD, DCSA, and Intelligence Community requirements. The AFSO serves as a key liaison between employees, hiring managers, government customers, DCSA, and adjudication facilities The AFSO will support the FSO in ensuring compliance with security policies, regulations and processes, while also enabling CGS to get people and resources where they’re needed most. This role requires close collaboration with Defense Counterintelligence & Security Agency (DCSA) Industrial Security Representatives and similar cognizant security offices for U.S. National Security agencies to address issues. The AFSO will support the FSO to ensure successful government audits of our Industrial Security program. This will require interfacing with Program Managers, and other stakeholders to ensure business expectations are met. This role will support some Safety and Security aspects for all CGS personnel, such as the international travel safety program, executive protection for special events, and overseeing office security. The ideal candidate is resourceful and will challenge conventional approaches to find better ways to navigate intricate bureaucracies. They'll execute important processes, reimagining and optimizing along the way to ensure faster outcomes that align with our customers' compliance requirements.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship (required).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active Top Secret U.S Security Clearance, and TS/SCI, Polygraph highly preferred.
  • High-touch communication with a bias for clarity and stakeholder support.
  • Bachelor's Degree with minimum 3-5 years of experience in industrial security or personnel security administration.
  • Expertise in navigating DISS, NISS, SWFT,eAPP and similar USG systems.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with a willingness to contribute across additional critical, cross-team functions and projects.
  • Demonstrated capability to think outside the box, and develop strategies and processes that maintain a strong security posture while enabling business outcomes.
  • Ability to be present onsite at a given facility within a 60 minute response time, with potential on call duties during after-hours, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and manage personnel security clearance actions (Secret and Top Secret) in DISS.
  • Review and validate SF-86 submissions for completeness and accuracy.
  • Submit investigation requests and monitor investigation status.
  • Track adjudication results and eligibility determinations.
  • Maintain accurate clearance records in accordance with 32 CFR Part 117.
  • Conduct clearance verifications and reciprocity requests.
  • Manage Continuous Vetting (CV) enrollment and compliance.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive security education, training, and awareness programs for internal employees.
  • Where needed, create engaging and informative security content to be delivered to internal employees.
  • Process SCI nomination packages and coordinate with Cognizant Security Authorities (CSAs) and Special Security Offices (SSOs).
  • Track and conduct SCI indoctrinations, debriefings, and access determinations.
  • Maintain SCI access rosters and visit certifications.
  • Coordinate SCI visit requests and verify eligibility.
  • Ensure compliance with Intelligence Community Directives (ICDs) and customer-specific SCI requirements.
  • Maintain strict accountability for SCI-related documentation.
  • Support DCSA security reviews and audits.
  • Maintain and update the company’s NISS account as necessary.
  • Support company Insider Threat program, ensuring relevant employees understand their obligations.
