About The Position

Join our amazing team as an Assistant Golf Professional! The Assistant Golf Professional is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of league programs, outings and group play, tournaments, merchandising support, and indoor simulator programming. This position manages key programs that drive participation, revenue and guest satisfaction, while working in partnership with the Superintendent of Golf Operations/Head Golf Professional to deliver a high quality golf experience. Instruction through the Northbrook Golf Academy may be provided, subject to program responsibilities being met, typically outside normal operational hours. Work hours may vary and include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Pay & Schedule: $58,000 - $69,000.00 Per Year (DOQ) This is a full-time, exempt position, schedule will fluctuate with seasonal demand.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, associate’s degree required from an accredited college or golf trade school, including or supplemented by at least three (3) years as a Golf Professional, with experience in league administration, tournament operations, club fitting and golf instruction.
  • Class-A PGA of America member or Level 3 Associate achieving membership within 1 year of start of employment
  • Independent thinking and decision-making ability
  • Strong program planning, organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple programs, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to analyze participation, revenue, and operational data to improve performance
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with guests, staff, and vendors
  • Ability to resolve guest issues and make sound operational decisions
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) and golf solutions
  • Valid Illinois driver’s license
  • CPR/AED Certification or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire
  • Knowledge Golf league, outing, and tournament operations, including scheduling, scoring, handicapping, and participant management
  • Rules of golf and competition administration
  • Golf merchandising, inventory management, and promotional planning
  • Club fitting principles, golf technology, and equipment performance
  • Golf Point-of-sale, reservation, simulator management systems and tournament software
  • Budget development, revenue tracking, and expense control
  • Customer service standards and service recovery practices in a golf hospitality environment
  • Safety, risk management, and operating procedures related to golf facilities

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, schedule, and manage all adult league programs: draft and uphold annual league agreements to define calendar, tee time arrangements, program fees and green fee pricing.
  • Manage weekly bookings, communications, and financial performance; serve as the primary District contact for league presidents and participants.
  • Collaborate with outside service supervisor and staff to coordinate logistics for on-course contests, event formats, and scoring.
  • Direct all tournament operations, including event planning, rules administration, handicapping, and scoring.
  • Develop new programs or competitive events and evaluate current tournament operations to enhance customer satisfaction and financial performance.
  • Coordinate and execute outings and group play events.
  • Manage outing agreements and financial accountability.
  • Coordinate with golf operation supervisors and other district departments for support requirements, including course maintenance and setup, staff scheduling, and on-course operations.
  • Collaborate with Acorn Grill's restaurant management team to ensure seamless integration of golf event catering and food & beverage services.
  • Manage golf shop merchandising for both Heritage Oaks and Anetsberger, including budget planning, purchasing, product assortment, inventory control, displays, and promotional planning.
  • Develop and manage simulator league programming, scheduling, and offseason revenue performance.
  • Lead club fitting services and coordinate vendor demo days and fitting events to drive merchandise sales and player engagement
  • Develop and manage budgets for assigned program areas, monitor revenues and expenses and recommend adjustments as needed
  • Support development and growth of Northbrook Golf Academy programs, including group and private instruction offerings.
  • Develop and revise operating procedures and program guidelines related to leagues, tournaments, merchandising, and simulator operations.
  • Establish and uphold customer service standards and resolve escalated guest issues related to assigned programs.
  • Provide golf instruction through group clinics and individual lessons when program responsibilities are met.
  • Ensure compliance with golf course rules, safety standards, and operating procedures for all programs and events.
  • Ensure proper documentation and reporting of incidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions.
  • Report any work-related or patron injuries, incidents or unsafe conditions to supervisor; address unsafe conditions as appropriate; complete or review incident/accident report forms as needed.
  • Perform all job tasks in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of golf operations.
